Guys, I'm coming out of retirement to write this review. Anyone who knows the area knows that Watsonville doesn't have too much going on, but Mariscos El Nayarita II is always JAM PACKED for a reason. This place is bomb-dot-com. There's limited parking in their lot so you have to park in the neighborhood on the same street. This place is popping, lots of families and couples of all ages. They have a juke box that is blasting that sweet Mexican music (not Despacito) and they usually have sports playing on the televisions. They are so busy, especially on weekends, but the staff is as friendly and as attentive as they can be. Let's get to what you really came here for though - the food. First and foremost, do yourself a favor and get a Chavela to drink. That's like a savory Mexican fiesta in my mouth letting my taste buds know that it's game time. The guacamole is super fresh and creamy, recommended especially if their house salsa is too spicy for you. BE WARNED: Their house salsa IS SO SPICY. I can do heat, but this was like visceral, man. That is like the stuff they put in Napalm. But it's not terrible, it doesn't linger. You've been warned. Prepared Oysters come topped with octopus and shrimp and it's like getting to taste the ocean right here in Watsonville. It's served with another red house salsa which is not spicy and actually really nice. I loved how savory and tender the octopus and shrimp fajitas were, very flavorful and enjoyable, not too salty. The grilled prawns were fantastic, I don't know how they season it, but they're really succulent and sweet. The Chipotle Shrimp was so freaking amazing. It's sweet mixed with spicy and really savory. I love how all the dishes (or most of them) come complimented with cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocado which makes everything taste refreshing. I don't know if that makes it really authentic Mexican food, but I think it's THE BEST. I haven't had such a fun experiencing eating food like this in a long time. Bring your family, bring a positive attitude, and get ready to get slam dunked with fresh seafood flavors all over your face and in your mouth. I was not disappointed and if you want real Mexican seafood, you won't be disappointed either.
