I recently visited Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra at the Fairmont Hotel in Lusail,Doha, and it was a thoroughly delightful dining experience. The food was consistently impressive across everything we tried. The Tandoori Gucci was the absolute highlight — aromatic, rich, and beautifully prepared. The rasmalai was outstanding: extremely tasty, soft, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. Even the simpler dishes like the kulchas and the chicken stood out for being juicy, flavourful, and thoughtfully crafted. The ambience added so much to the experience. The interiors are elegant and calm, with a warm, modern Indian aesthetic that makes the meal feel special without being overwhelming. What made it even lovelier was the beautiful view of Lusail through the windows — a serene backdrop that elevates the dining atmosphere. Overall, Masala Library is the kind of place where you can order confidently, savour the ambience, and enjoy both the food and the setting. The ambiance is nothing short of spectacular — a masterclass in elegance and sophistication. The chandeliers glitter like constellations above your table, casting a soft, golden glow that makes every moment feel cinematic. The artwork adorning the walls tells its own quiet stories — a seamless blend of tradition and modernity that sets the tone for the culinary journey ahead. There’s a deep sense of heritage and intention woven into the fabric of the space. You can feel the legacy of innovation and passion that the restaurant has built its name upon. And when it comes to the food — divine doesn’t even begin to cover it. Each dish was a flavourful revelation, thoughtfully presented with creativity and precision. It’s not just a meal, but a meticulously choreographed performance of aromas, textures, and flavors that make you pause in awe with every bite. We had the immense pleasure of speaking briefly with the Head Chef, whose passion and dedication to his craft shines through every plate. It was an honour to hear about the philosophy and inspiration behind the menu. But what truly elevated the entire experience was the outstanding service. A heartfelt thank you to Robin and Lui, who made our evening unforgettable. Their warmth, attention to detail, and genuine enthusiasm created a sense of effortless hospitality. They took time to engage with us, sharing stories, laughing with us, and making us feel completely at ease — like we were the only guests in the restaurant. At times, it truly felt like we were in our own private dining haven, tucked away from the world, savoring exquisite food in the company of friends. That intimacy, paired with impeccable service and extraordinary cuisine, made our evening at Masala Library absolutely unforgettable. We went to the Dome cafe at the Fairmont for its new festive afternoon tea. The afternoon tea stand was served without any explanation, and our teas were served much later. Unfortunately, the jams and clotted cream were served in chipped chinaware. Despite our desire to order additional food a la carte, we faced a challenge in locating a server, waiting approximately 20 minutes before spotting one escorting new guests. It was only then, after standing up to call the server, that we were able to ask for a la carte menu and asked the server to pay more attention to service. Regrettably, Fairmont, which is supposed to be one of the best hotels in Doha, was disappointing for us. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
