Went on a Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday of a man who used to eat at Matsu often before the pandemic when he worked in the area. The gyoza was crispy all over instead of lightly pan fried on bottom and steamed on top. The Nabe Yaki Soba had almost flavorless broth, except for the heat from a bit of chili powder - just awful. There was an unsupervised child of the staff alone at a table near us speaking loudly while playing a video game with an opponent on line, and it was hard to get the attention of the wait staff once they sat down to eat their own dinner while we were still at our table. On the good side the tuna and sushi rolls were very good and the decor is quite nice. The music playing when we sat down at our table was a solo piano playing John Denver's Country Roads Take Me Home - which I found quite amusing in that setting. Don't think we will be going back. We wonder if the place has changed hands, as it used to be outstanding on all fronts. What a treat this place is! After landing at Baltimore (BWI) my nephew Christopher asked if I was hungry. Surely I was after being cramped in the middle seat from Cali to Maryland. I requested a sushi place, and my nephew took me to his go-to sushi spot, Matsu Japanese Restaurant. I am soooooo glad he took me there. The service was on point, the food was kick-in-yo-mouth delicious and the rolls that I ordered were so yummy, I couldn't help but write that on the receipt, YUMMY!!! Megan, our server, was efficient, accommodating and attentive. I ordered the Maryland Roll (YUM-YUM) and the Love Roll (SUPER YUM) nephew ordered the fried chicken katsu -our meal was filling, with generous portions of sushi, it was delicious and the service was wonderful. What a refreshingly, delightful, and palate-pleasing restaurant!!! 10-stars from me and my nephew! To anyone who is in the Linthicum area, go there and you won't be disappointed. Thank you nephew for showing me that aside from great-tasting crab cakes (my next review), Maryland has a sushi restaurant that almost rivals some of those here in Cali, I'm just saying, and thank you to Matsu and our server Megan for an impressive and memorable meal!
