Very authentic! My pork was really tender and the cucumber app was unique. Only suggestion is to have a sign or tell people when entering where to get napkins...paper towels hanging on the wall wasn't intuitive. The server very nicely grabbed for us and I felt bad. Neat experience! Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

I had chicken ramen. Taste was good. I dont eat pork, they didnt have much chicken options. So I just had ramen with no pork on top. I reached there early before they opened as I heard ppl line up even before it opens. Expect to stand in line. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Chicken Shoyu Ramen

This place tries way too hard to be a hole-in-the-wall, homey, authentic ramen shop with such an inconveniently small building size and a waiting system that's not even worth waiting 30 minutes for. (Though most times, you'll be waiting at least an hour standing in line outside, either in the blazing heat or frigid cold, even 2.) Menya Rui is so overrated that it just pisses me off that people online are praising this tiny shop, probably yelling "oh my god it's just like Japan, we're like the Japanese white collar workers that line up for ramen during their lunch break" when the whole point of shops like this is to at least make actual good food.. Out of all their variations, the dipped one tastes the best, but in my opinion (and there are a lot of other reviews that mention this), the food is way too salty. It's a shame because you can tell they actually put some effort into making the broth flavorful but then they dump an obscene amount of salt in it, making it taste like the average instant ramen with some umami powder put into it. Don't even bother with the appetizers, yes, they're cheap, but it still feels like a waste of money after taking the first bite. The prices here are actually good, but the ramen was so subpar and disappointing that you have to convince yourself it's the best thing in the world after waiting hours in line. If you're unemployed and have nothing to do but stand, then it's a nice place for cheap food. For anything else other than this specific experience, I wouldn't bother.
