If you’re anywhere near Goodland, Kansas, do yourself a favor and stop at Mom’s Kitchen. Some places feed your stomach — this place feeds your soul. The food is amazing (donuts, breakfast burritos, Sunday turkey and dressing or chicken fried steak with gravy… yes please), but the real magic is Roberta and Terry. They’ve created the kind of place where you can slow down, drop your shoulders, and just feel human again. In a world where so many people are tired and carrying things you can’t see, places like this matter. Goodland is lucky to have Mom’s Kitchen.

While traveling we always look for Mom and Pop (non chain) places to eat, especially breakfast. This place did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the coffee plentiful. The guy waiting tables (yes, only one, the place is small and cozy) asked if we were just passing through. He then gave us a very much appreciated typed paper with favorite places to see and favorite places to eat that he and his wife compiled in their travels. Yes, we will be keeping it in the vehicle while we travel as there is a lot of things we had not seen yet. Food was fantastic, service was over the top, and prices were inexpensive. Totally recommend!

Local ma and pa food establishments are my favorite. Something about the thoughtfulness of the food prep and service and atmosphere is endearing to me. My daughter and I were visiting from the Denver Metro area and stopped in for a quick bite and we're both so happy we did. Service was great and the food was wonderful. My daughter even randomly mentioned the hamburger she got several times on the way back. If you're in the mood for a home cooked meal and a friendly face, Mom's Kitchen will not disappoint.
