We drove to Mortehoe shortly after opening time and placed a large order for 8 people. The food took only around 15 minutes to be cooked, which was great service. I had the cod and chips, which was delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly in crispy batter, and the chips were crunchy and piping hot. Seeing as I was down south and they do not do northern gravy, I ordered a tub of curry sauce instead. It tasted fantastic, and I am now a full convert to the curry sauce ways of the south. The portion sizes were good, not too big but definitely not too small. The chip shop itself is located right next door to The Ship Aground pub in picturesque Mortehoe, making it an ideal place to have a pint while you wait for your food to be ready. 8th June, Ordered the Lobster & Prawn Au Gratin for £12.80. It came in a small square foil container with a card lid. When I opened it The Gratin looked very underwhelming. It looked dry and was only 3/4 full. It was hot but unfortunately the 3 pieces of lobster and the few prawns were rubbery. The mash was hot but also a bit dry. If I could have seen it before ordering I would not have ordered it as it looked like it had been sitting hot for a fair while. If I had paid £5 I may not have been so bothered but for £12.80 I was expecting more quantity, freshness and a more premium product. Unfortunately that was my first and last purchase from Mortehoe Fish & Chip shop which is a shame. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
