Mr Fish & Noodle House replaces OnePot in Malden, MA. The restaurant specializes in fish soups and fish noodle soup. You have a variety of broth to try and of course, fish is not the only option for protein. My family came here for dinner. Street parking in the area is very limited as it is a mix of residential and businesses but more residential. The restaurant is very clean and brightly lit. I must say, the menu is very straight forward. Appetizers, either soup or noodle soup with add ons if you so chooses, and a short drink menu. Only one tricky part to the menu was item F5 which had no English translation. When I asked the waitress the difference between F1 and F5, I was told it was the vegetables used in the soup, I can't recall. For appetizers, we ordered the takoyaki, the popcorn chicken, and the fried buns. The takoyaki was deep fried, and then topped with bonito flakes, and drizzled with Japanese mayo and takoyaki sauce. It had a goey centered with bits of octopus inside each one. This item is always popular with my kids. Another favorite for my kids is the fried bun appetizer which came with condensed milk for dipping. This is a sweet appetizer. I like to save it for dessert but it can be eaten before hand. The popcorn chicken is coated with a salty curry spice batter. I enjoyed this appetizer the most and would order it again as the chicken meat was tender and juicy on the inside, while the outside was crispy. There is bits of salted fried basil leaves and green onions and chili peppers. I couldn't help pick but picked on these as I waited for the rest of the meal. I ordered the F1 Mao Xue Wang with extra grass carp fish fillets while my husband ordered the tomato noodle soup with added slice fish. Expect fish bones. I recommend asking for hot chili oil if you like your broth extra spicy. When asked, we were given peppercorn oil. In my opinion, it made my soup dish so much better in terms of both flavor and heat. My soup came with a bowl of rice. I couldn't finish the regular size by myself so I took it to go. The larger size is meant for sharing with maybe a group of four. As for my husband's tomato noodle soup, it would have been too plain if he didn't add a bit of chili oil to change the flavor profile as well. I will definitely be back to try the other flavors though my favorite tends to be the spicy chili ones. For drinks, we tried the taro and boba milk tea and the mango pomelo smoothie. If I had to pick between the two, I would say go for the mango pomelo smoothie. The taro and boba tea was good as well but the taro paste can make the drink dense and starchy as well. The restaurant was empty when we came. Service was overall very good. A larger party came in while we dined. I hope the restaurant does well but the location is very tough as it's not in the heart of Malden center but rather outskirts.
