We escaped the Niseko gong show of Australians and westerners and drove to the next town called Rankoshi and had a wonderful and memorable experience at an izakaya named Murata. We were lucky to have the restaurant to ourselves and were provided with the best service and food from the owner of this small place. We shared gyoza , karage , ika tempura , seafood spring rolls , chicken yakitori and a wonderful traditional Japanese pot over a burner called Motsunabe which had a great flavour. As a bonus the tuna sashimi was as good as anywhere. I highly recommend getting away from Niseko and having a legitimate Japanese experience for 1/3 of the Niseko price at this restaurant.
