I hadn't even considered writing a review for this cafe, but when I saw it pop-up as an option for check-in on my Yelp app..... well, why not? Next Chapter Cafe is the new cafe in the Scott County Public Library. I believe this was another location run by the people who owned Sweet Matriarch Bakery in Georgetown; however, that bakery seems to be closed so I'm not quite sure the story behind this cafe. Anyway, it's located in the front of the library, to the right of the main entrance. You'll find a beautiful counter display with treats (sometimes full, sometimes not) and a large menu with a variety of sandwiches and drinks that can be made. The dining area consists of several tables, couches, and long counters with plugs for laptops/electronics! There's also a fireplace. But ah -- it's not as cozy as it sounds. It's nice, but very 'white' and modern. I do wish it were a bit 'cozier' and less 'modern', but I suppose that's what the library wanted. I ordered a BLT from here once. The BLT was good. But was it worth the $7 or so I paid for it? Hmm.... I don't know about that. I could've made it at home. In fact, I'm not sure that anything is worth the slightly steep price tag. It's like.... gourmet prices for regular food, which isn't a bad thing, but kind of upscale for a library. If I order anything from here again, it will most likely just be a drink and maybe a treat. I do love that there's a cafe here, though! It's good to have options. And what book isn't excellent without a cup of coffee or tea in hand?
Oh, my God. Delectable cookies plus a giant cup of hot chocolate accented with cinnamon? I am in heaven. Plus, the lunch items looked delicious and are all made in house. Add to that comfy chairs, a fireplace, excellent service, and library books right at hand. Uff da, wonderful. If I lived anywhere near this friendly cafe, I'd be in trouble.
