Granted I got to Next Door around 1:30 am on a Friday night with a group of eight friends but it was dead considering McKinney Ave was busy overall. We ended up here because of complications with an Uber that didn't leave us much time to get to our original end of night destination. We settled for this place because someone knew the bouncers. That is often the cheapest way to jump a line if there is one in this area. Otherwise I'm not sure I would've come here. I thought the inside was quite small even though there is an outside area out front with seating. Because it was dead, they had the upstairs closed off and wouldn't let us go up. There's two bathrooms, a womens only and a unisex. I guess the unisex one has a urinal (maybe) or they're willing to let the women use both bathrooms without a dedicated mens. I used the womens which was a basic single toilet so there's only supposed to be one person in there at a time. Not sure if there are any upstairs. They had two bottle service girls who seemed quite bored but other than that, you order at the bar.I didn't pay so I don't know pricing but I'm guessing it is in line with other bars on McKinney Ave. (Meaning if you get up charged then they either know you're from out of town or they don't know/ don't like you). I can't really say how this place is during busy times though unless there is quite a bit more space upstairs, it would be a little cramped. Worse on a rainy night. I give 3 stars because I honestly wasn't impressed by the place having not been there before. The energy there wasn't as nonexistent as the customers seemed to be but it wasn't moving either. It seemed kind of tired. 5 stars, I would've loved the place. 4 stars I wouldn't mind going back and have no immediate complaints. Though I have no direct complaints now other than maybe it was an off night for the bar, I can't give it 4 stars. As far as choosing this bar over other bars in the area, just do what the McKinney Ave crowd does: either bar hop until you find your vibe or follow the crowd.
