This place runs like a new restaurant and that's not a good thing. When I walked in I had no idea the host worked there and then after a few minutes they said something to me but didn't immediately greet me. Our table wasn't ready and I wasn't seated until they put water on it. After my friends showed up we ordered drinks, then starters, then entrees/shareables. Our drinks and starters of olives and hummus came pretty quickly. And then a salad came which we all shared. Then after we had been there 2 hours the hot food, gnocchi, chicken breast, and sablefish, finally came. It wasn't all hot. For $34 what we got of the fish was more like a taster than a full entree portion which was what it was supposed to be. We weren't full but didn't order dessert since it had already taken so long and the bathroom situation wasn't good. Nothing special here except the drinks. Price per person: $60–70 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

Looking for something new for Saturday night dinner. Found something great! Great bar, especially dirty martinis and eclectic menu that changes regularly. Had the steak and lady had the gnocchi. Both very good. But the couscous arugala salad with roasted nuts outstanding. Finally a brownie and after dinner wine. Service great and manager very informative. Best thing, locally sourced!. Will be back, this time on patio. Price per person: $40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

No Ordinary Rabbit (formerly Nixta) on Tower Grove Ave truly lives up to its name. First impressions matter—and this place nails them. The space is inviting and stylish without trying too hard, and the staff strike that perfect balance of knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely happy to have you there. We were a group of four, which honestly feels like the sweet spot for this tapas-style restaurant. Now, full disclosure: I’m usually not a tapas fan. I don’t love leaving hungry, and my wallet tends to feel just as empty as my stomach. But I was pleasantly surprised—this was an evening I enjoyed from start to finish. It began with an absolutely perfect gin and tonic—crisp, balanced, and exactly what I wanted. From there, the dishes just kept coming. The hummus (both classic and carrot) was smooth and flavorful, but the real star of the table was the flatbread—warm, chewy, and downright addictive. For mains, I had the mac and cheese, which was rich and comforting without being heavy. My tablemates ordered the lamb meatballs, shakshuka red snapper, and gnocchi, and every single dish was met with enthusiastic approval. Bright, bold, and full of flavor across the board. We spent about $70 per person including tip, which is on the pricier side for St. Louis—but the experience, the flavors, and the overall vibe made it feel worth it. It was a fun, flavorful night out. One small heads-up: parking is currently a bit of a nightmare, as Tower Grove Ave is deep in construction. Plan accordingly—and trust me, it’s still worth the effort. Bottom line: great space, wonderful staff, inventive food, and a thoroughly enjoyable evening. No Ordinary Rabbit is anything but ordinary.
