We really needed a cup of coffee, but ended up getting lunch because the menu look so amazing! My son got the French toast and bacon but he five in before I could get a picture. His French toast had the light texture of the fluffy Japanese pancakes. I got the mushroom, bacon croquette, which wasn’t wait I expected at all but was delighted. We did get great coffee and topped it off with two cupcakes, one cheese chocolate marshmallow and one carrot cake and they were perfect. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My partner & I were really looking for to checking out this cafe, but unfortunately the experience didn’t match the price. The food was average and didn’t feel worth the cost, especially in such a tourist-heavy area. One of the dishes was advertised with baked beans on the side, but they never came, which felt a bit misleading. The atmosphere and location were nice, but overall it felt more geared toward tourists than quality. We were also surprised to be asked for a tip, as that isn’t generally expected in Japan. Not a terrible experience, but not somewhere we’d personally return to for the price Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

To be absolutely clear, we have never asked for, expected, or required tips from any of our customers. Tipping is entirely optional in Japan, and we do not request it from our guests. If you left a tip because you believed it was expected or required, please contact us directly and we will gladly refund it. That has never been our intention. We also apologize if the baked beans listed on the menu were not served. If that was the case, it was our mistake. Had we been aware of the issue during your visit, we would have gladly corrected it and apologized in person. We also remember that this was not your first visit. They are open from 8 a.m. even though many other restaurants are closed in the morning. My lifesaver! I had the french toast, and it went perfectly with the black coffee! Even better, you can get a refill on your coffee! 城崎温泉周辺は朝も夜も閉店が早くて朝ごはん迷子になりましたが、OKUを発見して美味しい朝食をいただきました。フレンチトーストの甘さとコーヒーの良い具合の苦味が合ってとても美味しかったです!
