ONGGI delivered one of the most satisfying Korean lunches I’ve had in the DC area. I ordered the Onggi Lunch Set and every component was executed with care and attention to detail. The grilled mackerel was the standout of the meal—perfectly cooked with crispy skin, moist flesh, excellent texture, and rich flavor without being overly oily. The kimchi stew was equally impressive, with a deep, comforting broth, tofu, and small pieces of meat (which I believe were pork ribs) that added great richness. The spice level was just right: enough heat to be authentic and flavorful without overwhelming the palate. The seafood pajeon was also excellent—crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with flavor. Even the multigrain rice deserves mention, as it was cooked to exactly the right texture, something that is often overlooked but makes a big difference in a traditional Korean meal. The presentation of the lunch set was beautiful and thoughtfully arranged, as you can see in the photos. The restaurant itself has a warm, modern Korean aesthetic that feels both elegant and welcoming. Service was attentive, professional, and efficient throughout the meal. What impressed me most was the balance of the entire experience: quality ingredients, careful preparation, attractive presentation, and genuine hospitality. ONGGI manages to feel contemporary while remaining faithful to the comforting flavors that make Korean cuisine so appealing. I would gladly return and highly recommend the Onggi Lunch Set to anyone looking for an authentic, well-executed Korean dining experience. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back

Thank you, Dario! We are truly honored by your kind words and grateful that you took the time to share such detailed feedback. Your review brought joy to our entire team and kept us smiling for days. It means so much to know that you appreciated the care behind our cooking, the quality of our ingredients, and our commitment to traditional Korean techniques such as slow cooking and natural fermentation. We take great pride in preparing many of our sauces through fermentation, offering naturally gluten-free options whenever possible, and presenting each dish with intention and respect for Korean culinary traditions. Reviews like yours encourage us to continue sharing Korean cuisine with the same passion, hospitality, and attention to detail every day. Thank you again for your support. We look forward to welcoming you back to Onggi soon. Warm regards, Onggi Team

I went the week of 4/25 and then 5/1. Between then they raised prices and changed the recipes and reduced the menu. Also some portions (eg leaves that come with samgyeopsal) decreased. The vegan bulgogi ive had multiple times is now mushroom based and tough. The samgyeopsal is overcooked. Unfortunately i can no longer recommend. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
