I am assuming you have a new cook?? Well, I've eaten there every week for a few years... Never again!! This food was completely HORRIBLE today! Please find a better cook or risk loosing a LOT more business. Honestly, the dressing was disgusting! None of the food had any flavor as it once had.

2nd time going here this weekend since it's been in business...2nd time too many. Non-seasoned food for $7-$10 bucks. Food looks good. But... doesn't have the complete taste of real soul food. Plus, this older lady at the register talked about a customer & reprimanded a new lady in front of me. I was very uncomfortable. Won't be back.

The original reviews for Octagon Cafe were, for some unknown reason, merged with Octagon Extreme Cafe (after I made the 1st review). And, despite 3 separate Edit Business requests, and photos showing the 2 businesses from the outside, Yelp has not separated the original reviews. So, I'm writing this review in hopes of either restarting a new Octagon Cafe page. Or, Yelp will see this, and can fix the problem. Today, I stopped here with all the intention of buying something for my dinner tonight. But, when I saw that they had Candied Yams, I knew I had to eat it while it was hot vs reheating it. So, I got the Cubed Steak (1 piece; some entrees have 2), Chicken & Dumplings (my first in 50 years) and Candied Yams with a Yeast Roll. I found the Cubed Steak to be pretty good. It was nice and tender. Though, it could have been seasoned a little more. When I was a kid, I love chicken. But, when I tried Chicken & Dumplings somewhere, I didn't like it. And, hadn't had it since. So, when the server told me that was C & D. I decided that since everything else here is very good to excellent, I decided to give them another try. And, boy! Am I glad I did. Even without adding pepper, they were delicious! The Candied Yams were very good. But, since I'm spoiled when it comes to this dish, I find restaurants to fall short of my expectations.
