Located near Ikegami Honmonji Temple, Old House Cafe Rengetsu is a beautifully preserved wooden townhouse that immediately transports you into a Ghibli-like world the moment you step inside. Rengetsu offers several lunch options and desserts, with seating available on the first floor, second floor, and even in the quiet back garden. Seats must be secured before ordering, and during peak hours this can be a bit challenging — the café is extremely popular. We ordered the Rengetsu Fried Chicken Plate Lunch with tartar sauce, which came with homemade pickles and potato salad. Everything tasted delicious, but the highlight was definitely the tender, perfectly fried chicken that paired wonderfully with the creamy tartar sauce. While lunch prices run a bit on the higher side, the experience, atmosphere, and location make it well worth a visit. If you’re exploring the beautiful Ikegami Temple area and want a memorable, atmospheric meal or café break, Rengetsu is absolutely a place to try.
