I was in the mood for a good grass-fed beef burger and my boyfriend found this place online. When we arrived, the owner Carl greeted us and told us a little history of the Olde 37 Patio & Grill. He sources his burger meat directly from a family-owned farm & slaughterhouse located nearby in NY state. These small farms raise their animals in a much more humane environment than typical Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations. As a dietitian, I am big on farm-to-table, sustainable and locally sourced ingredients because it's healthier to eat and better for the environment. Grass-fed beef is much leaner (and tastier) than factory-farmed beef, so stick with medium, medium rare or rare. Anything more than medium will dry out the meat. I ordered my burger combo cooked medium with sautéed onions & cheddar cheese and my boyfriend ordered his medium with bacon & cheddar cheese. The buns were light & fluffy with fresh tomato slices and romaine lettuce fixings, and the wedge fries were air-fried not deep fried (dietitian approved)! The Olde 37 sauce on the side was quite tasty too, but to be honest, you won't even need ketchup, mustard or sauce on the burger to enjoy it. Wash it all down with a fountain drink, or in my boyfriend's case, a tasty milk shake (and one of those chocolate truffle treats). We will be back soon!
