Hidden gem in the hippest suburb, Collingwood Melbourne All dishes I had were tasty & packed with favor. The burnt chocolate cheese cake was a winner. Love the potato bread with spanakapita & herbs. The red Snapper cappacio with lardolemon was exceptional. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $80–100 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian options: Good selection

Who is this chef that can take the humble tomato and make it dance over your tongue with amazing flavours? From the moment we walked into Orlo we could tell we were in for a great experience. Warm,friendly, and welcoming smiles from the wait staff. An open kitchen where you can see the chefs calmly and efficiently preparing meals. Even with all of these signs nothing could have prepared us for the culinary delight we were about to experience. The Taramasalata was amazing, through the roof good and the bread it was served with made in house and out of the oven was to die for. The Horta salad, flat potatoe bread with whipped feta, the calamari that required no chewing and just melted in your mouth. Each dish was spectacular and did not disappoint. Being a fussy eater with what some would say a limited range, my partner was amazed to see me consume and enjoy every dish that landed on our table. If it were not for dinning etiquette I would have licked every plate clean. Highly recommend the Orlo experience. Also recommend trying to get the charismatic and talented chef out of the kitchen to hear his passion and stories for what he brings to your table. Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Here’s a polished Google review that keeps it balanced while clearly explaining your experience. I also naturally included the handwritten note from Chef Chris (“Constantine / Chris”) because it’s a nice touch. I have to admit, it was quite funny that when I mentioned I came because ORLO is a one-hat restaurant, no one seemed to know they had actually been awarded a Chef Hat! As someone who almost always chooses hatted restaurants, that’s exactly why I booked ORLO. It’s also conveniently located not far from the CBD, and while there’s no dedicated parking, street parking was easy enough to find. Even better, it’s free after 6 pm, which was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, the dining experience didn’t quite meet my expectations. I had booked a week in advance, but because my friend arrived before me, we were seated at a table right at the end of the corridor. I was quite surprised by that placement. Thankfully, when I asked if we could move to another available table, the staff kindly accommodated my request. The biggest issue, however, was the noise. The restaurant was incredibly loud. The tables behind us—a group of four ladies and another larger group of around eight people—were shouting throughout the evening. It reached a point where my friend and I genuinely struggled to hear each other across the table. I mentioned this to one of the waiters, hoping there might be a solution. His response was, “Sorry I can’t kick them out.” Of course, I wasn’t expecting anyone to be asked to leave, but I was hoping for a little more empathy or a more professional response. It didn’t feel like the level of service I’d expect from a hatted restaurant. On the positive side, Chef Chris was genuinely warm and welcoming, even taking the time to write us a lovely note, which was a thoughtful gesture. Constantine also looked after us well and had a great sense of humour, making the service enjoyable. The food was very good, and there were some thoughtful menu options. However, the overall atmosphere was simply too loud for me to enjoy the meal or conversation. Sadly, despite the quality of the food and the lovely people, it’s hard to see myself returning unless I bring a pair of earplugs. If ORLO could improve the dining atmosphere and better manage the noise levels, it would make a significant difference to the overall experience.
