I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I believe experiences like this deserve to be shared because customer service is ultimately about how we treat other human beings. I visited this Panda Express on June 28, 2026 around 1:11 PM with my mother. We each had our own Panda Cub Meal coupon from a local summer reading program. My mother’s transaction went through, but mine did not. I live with disabilities, rely on SNAP, and experience food insecurity. This was my first opportunity to eat that day. I respectfully explained to the manager, Christina, that I have medical dietary restrictions that prevent me from eating meat and also shared my sincerely held religious and spiritual beliefs about not eating animals. I politely asked whether the meat entrée could be substituted with cream cheese wontons so I could actually eat the meal. The request was immediately refused because of inventory. When my separate Cub Meal coupon would not scan, I said, “I’m hungry. We came here trying to eat. Is there any way you can honor it?” I wasn’t asking for extra food or something more expensive. I was asking for compassion and hoping someone in a leadership position would try to help find a solution. Instead, I left without receiving any food. What stayed with me wasn’t simply being told “no.” It was how invisible I felt. There was no meaningful effort to understand my circumstances, no attempt to explore another option, and no empathy shown toward someone who had explained they were hungry and living with disabilities. I also previously worked for Panda Express, so I understand that policies and inventory procedures exist. But I also remember that hospitality was supposed to be just as important. Rules should help businesses operate, they should never cause us to forget the human being standing in front of us. This experience made me think about something much bigger than one restaurant. Across America, millions of people live with disabilities, rely on food assistance, or struggle with food insecurity. Community meal programs are not just promotions for everyone, they are sometimes the difference between eating and going hungry. Moments like this remind us that compassion is not measured by whether every request can be granted, but by how we choose to treat people when they are vulnerable. I hope Panda Express reviews this experience, provides additional coaching where appropriate, and continues building a culture where kindness, empathy, and dignity are valued just as highly as policy. Every guest deserves to leave feeling respected, especially when they walk in with respect themselves. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Vegetarian offerings: Not sure Vegetarian options: If you have medical dietary restrictions or do not eat meat for religious, spiritual, or ethical reasons, I would encourage you to ask detailed questions before ordering. During my visit, I respectfully explained that I could not eat meat and asked whether my Cub Meal protein could be substituted with cream cheese wontons so I could actually eat the meal. My request was immediately declined without any discussion of alternatives. I left feeling that my dietary needs were treated as an inconvenience rather than an opportunity to help a guest. Compassion and hospitality matter just as much as policy, especially when someone is simply trying to receive a meal they can actually eat. Dietary restrictions: Guests with dietary restrictions should be aware that accommodations may be very limited. I explained that I have medical dietary restrictions and sincerely held religious and spiritual beliefs that prevent me from eating meat, but I did not feel there was any effort to help me find an alternative within the menu. I left feeling unheard and without receiving any food.
