I had a very disappointing experience at Panera Bread. Yesterday, I ordered the chicken noodle soup, and it was awful. There was almost no liquid in it at all—it was extremely thick, as if it had been sitting out for a long time. By the time I got home, I actually had to add my own broth just to make it edible. The next morning, I called and spoke with the manager on duty. He was very kind, professional, and apologetic. He told me to come back in for a full refund and offered to provide another meal because of the inconvenience. He instructed me to ask for Jordan since I would be arriving after his shift. When I arrived, I asked for Jordan. Unfortunately, the experience was completely different. He was not very friendly and came across as standoffish. Although he asked for the card I used to pay for the order, he only refunded the $8.69 for the soup and never mentioned the replacement meal that had been promised. His demeanor was disappointing and not what I would expect from a manager. To make matters worse, I noticed flies landing on food while I was there, which was very concerning from a cleanliness standpoint. Considering the cleanliness score posted, this was surprising and unacceptable. Overall, the customer service was inconsistent, the food quality was poor, and the cleanliness concerns were enough for me to decide that I will not be returning. I picked up lunch for my office today and we were all very happy with our lunch selections. My Harvest salad was delicious and way more than I could eat (I saved half for dinner tonight!). As always, the french bread was crusty and flavorful, the perfect accompaniment to my salad. The broccoli & cheddar soup was also a huge hit. Super easy to order online and was ready at the front counter when I came in to pick it up. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5
