Always a fun stop. They can get a bit too crowded on Friday nights or when they ha e love music, but the vibes are great, the drinks are reasonably priced, and they have a good mix of tasty tiki drinks. Always recommend this place for a date or group hangout. Price per person: $20–30

I want to give this place 10 stars, but unfortunately I’m limited to 5. My wife and I recently visited Reno during one of the hardest times in our lives after my father passed away from a devastating and aggressive cancer. I’ve recently started embracing my secret passion for all things tiki, and my amazing wife has fully encouraged and joined me on this adventure. So naturally, we searched for a tiki bar nearby, and thankfully this hidden gem appeared. And when I say gem, I mean far more than just the place itself — though it was absolutely beautiful. The meticulous decor, the welcoming waterfall and bridge, and the tucked-away atmosphere made it feel truly special from the moment we arrived. But what truly made this place unforgettable was meeting the owners, Dr. Shocker and his wife Rose, who was bartending. You could immediately feel that this tiki bar was their passion, their heart, and their soul. They shared tiki lore, genuine conversation, laughter, and most importantly, deep kindness and warmth. For the reason we were in that city, it was honestly healing in a way I can hardly describe. Rose especially was the true jewel of this quintessential island escape, and together they gave us not only our best tiki experience, but one of the most meaningful experiences we’ve ever had anywhere. The very next day we brought my mother, hoping to ease some of the pain from losing her husband of 58 years — my father — and once again they welcomed us with open hearts, delicious tiki cocktails, and genuine love. We left with hugs, unforgettable memories, and a level of compassion that truly meant more to us than they will probably ever know. Thank you, Shocker and Rose, for your hospitality, kindness, love, and good spirits. We cannot wait to come back. Blessings and aloha to our new forever friends. Pele Utu is a true hidden gem in Reno. The moment you walk in, you’re transported into a dark, immersive tiki escape filled with incredible décor and island vibes. The cocktails are outstanding — well-balanced, rum-forward, and clearly made by people who know and love tiki culture. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxed, the crowd is friendly, and the attention to detail really sets this place apart. If you’re into craft cocktails or just want a unique night out, this spot is absolutely worth seeking out. Price per person: $10–20
