Been coming to Bar Harbor for the past 30+ years and somehow never managed to check out Peter Trouts. Finally visited this afternoon for lunch and had the most incredible crab cake. The bar has been seriously raised. I can't imagine anyone making a better one. You can't improve perfection. Served with house made pickles, cole slaw, a delicious aioli and mustard. Paired with the Cushnoc Brewing triple berry kettle sour it was delicious! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Crab Cakes

Dockside tavern that punches above its weight, both in quality and breadth of food options. While the beer selection was a little lacking (like 6 beers on tap), it’s forgivable given the smaller scale of the place and well made up for by the bartenders’ knowledge of cocktails. One of, if not maybe the best, fried fish sandwich I’ve ever had; there are options now for “small” and “large” fried fish sandwiches too, should you not have the capacity for leftovers. Friendly, neighborly staff and fantastic views of the mountains across the sound. Had the best Fried Chicken ever at Peter Trout's Tavern and Inn located in Maine. We got to talk with the owner and Chef Ryan. The food quality and quantity was outstanding. They had Bitburger N/A beer there and many fun things on the walls.
