Deliciously smooth and creamy milk chocolate. My favorites include the pecan turtles, mint truffles, coconut clusters, and chocolate-covered graham crackers. A very nice variety of individual chocolates in the case to buy by the pound or 1/4 pounds. Chocolate prices are high right now for the confectioners and that means chocolates are not inexpensive, but if you are looking for a sweet gift for someone special or to treat yourself, Peter's has lots of delectable choices in milk and dark chocolate in various price ranges.

I despise independent, small-scale chocolate companies. Then again, I hate most small business. I'm an apologist for huge corporations. There's a store called Sharp Shopper in Butler, PA. I recently bought a huge box of Lindt chocolates for $5.99. Granted, they were close to the best by date, but they were delicious. One can walk into Aldi Supermarket and get a bag of delicious truffles for around $3.00 However, when one walks into Peter's chocolates, she will see they're charging over $32 per pound for most chocolate varieties. In my considered opinion, that's outrageous. I tried several pieces - five to be exact. It was over $8.00 for those five small pieces. Were they vile? Not by a long shot. Were they the best chocolates I've ever eaten? No way. Are they better than chocolates like those offered by Lindt or the truffles at Aldi? No, they're not. Given the small taste differential between Peter's chocolates and much less expensive chocolates, one would have to be a masochist to regularly buy Peter's chocolates instead of the much less expensive alternative. I have no feelings of animosity towards the business. However, I cannot justify the outrageous price. I don't care if the process is labor intensive. I don't care about the quality of ingredients, where they source the ingredients, or that they need to pay for overhead. That's not my problem. I'll stick with the chocolates that taste good and leave me with more money in my pocket. That approach makes the most sense. I don't condone public welfare to keep small businesses afloat.
