03/10- around 8pm. I am writing to share a very disappointing experience we had at one of your Playa Bowls locations during a recent visit. We ordered one bowl and one smoothie, spending just under $30. When placing the order, we specifically asked for no banana in the smoothie because the person drinking it is extremely banana-averse. Unfortunately, the smoothie was made with banana. The employee who took our order—a very kind woman with brown hair—immediately acknowledged that she had accidentally entered the order incorrectly. Instead of selecting “no banana,” she had selected “no pineapple.” She was very apologetic and handled the situation to the extent of her ability. We completely understand that mistakes happen and appreciated her honesty. However, when we asked if the smoothie could simply be remade without banana, the manager (a bright blonde woman) refused. She stated that they must make the order exactly as it appears on the receipt and could not remake it, even though the employee who took the order clearly confirmed that the mistake was hers. What was most frustrating about this situation was the complete unwillingness to resolve such a simple and obvious issue. When asked whether the company policy or the customer experience should take priority in a situation where the staff themselves acknowledged the mistake, the response was simply that they were following policy. The conversation essentially ended there with no attempt to make things right. This was extremely disappointing, especially considering we are visiting from out of town and are regular customers of Playa Bowls in San Antonio, Texas, where we have consistently had wonderful experiences and accommodating service. I have the play bowls rewards app as well. It was upsetting to encounter such a rigid response over what should have been a very simple fix. As a result, we unfortunately had to leave the smoothie there entirely, which made the situation feel even more wasteful and frustrating. More than anything, it left us with the impression that customer satisfaction was not valued at this location. I would like to hear how this situation aligns with Playa Bowls’ customer service standards, as it does not reflect the positive experiences we have come to expect from your brand. Instead of spending a lovely evening with family and speaking well of this establishment we left at a loss and disappointment. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
