I wasn’t impressed with the decor or the ambiance. I had high expectations going in that this was some kind of goth bar or a punk-rock-style cocktail lounge, but I was surprised by how tame and boring it actually was. The place has zero identity or character. It feels like an old furniture store that went out of business, where they just threw a bar in the middle of the room and called it a day. It is just muted blacks and flat grays. Those colors are fine and actually work well for this type of theme, but it seems like that is all they did. Absolutely nothing else was thought out in regards to the glassware, the table adornments, or the lighting. It looks like they got halfway through the buildout and decided it was good enough. Honestly, it projects no more vibe or atmosphere than a dentist's office. I expected more detail, more flash, or just something to signal that this is a punk rock cocktail spot. Even the drinks completely clashed with the supposed aesthetic. They were serving tiki-style drinks packed with crushed ice and paper umbrellas. What is going on here? They are either having a massive identity crisis or they have absolutely no clue how to execute a theme. To top it off, the bar is adorned with tacky, anime-style tchotchkes. They also had the World Cup playing on a projector when I walked in. Who is coming to a spot like this to watch sports? I thought this bar would be an escape from that kind of mainstream noise. You would think goths, punks, and counterculture types wouldn't want that shoved in their faces, but 'all-inclusive' I guess. At least a place like Doom Bar leans heavily into its identity, whether you want to hear Pig Destroyer at one in the morning or not. Overall, it is just a visually barren, blasé space with no identity, quirk, or atmosphere to keep you coming back. That is especially true for a street that is already desolate and unappealing to walk down. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 2

A fun, unique experience for quick bite/drink or to sit down and have a full meal at. Sandwich portions were generous - just remember they put the fries in the sandwich (at least for the one I ordered). The mixed drinks were delicious and creative. The menu itself is not large, but enough to cover the basis in terms of vegetarians and some other restrictions. The atmosphere make this a fun and unique place to be, even though it can be both intimate and loud at same time. I would visit again. Poison Heart is very unique and a must visit if you’re on Spring Garden. This cocktail bar is a nice change of pace from all of the craft breweries around. Last time they were there they gave us a spicy popcorn with our drinks to munch on and it was such a unique season and spice. We also got spicy shrimp and loved it. I like the dimly lit vibe and red aesthetic in here. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
