All I have heard about this place how Great the steaks are, then how much it cost..Well I was planning on trying it. The price doesn't bother me just as long as the steak is what I ask for.I got a 14 Oz Rib Eye Med. Rare and it was served dare near Well Done . And what steak house doesn't serve Texas Toast. Half way through i was gonna ask for steak sauce so there some type of juices on my plate. I can't believe how fast it filled up , I guess people from Spencer area like paying high prices for sub par food. If you want a steak house that has Awesome steaks and its worth the drive. Go to Thompson on Highway 9 its called The Branding Iron. Never again will I come to this restaurant Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Took my son here for his birthday. It was a mile stone one and he appreciates good food so I wanted to treat him. Looked into many options and settled on the prime rib. It was his birthday so we offered him a "fancy drink", They only have 1 option for "mocktails" which is strawberry daiquiri and they were out. I asked for other ideas, she had nothing to suggest. Fine dining comes with expectations. I came up with something and she happily obliged. Chose 2 apps, cheeseballs and wings. Wings were so over cooked, and barely any meat. I almost broke a tooth bc they were so hard in spots. 3 of us ordered the prime rib which considering the name should have been superb....it smelled like wet dirty dog and I question what, if any, seasoning was used...including salt n pepper . My 16 yr old said my mom used to make better steak from hyvee...a sirloin! The Alfredo was blah with almost a sour taste, the Oscar was ok.I think you just have to really love Oscar's. She then brought out a complimentary cake for my son which was appreciated. Molten lava cake that tasted fine..but not what youd expect for fine dining and hes not a big chocolate fan. I knew it would be spendy but was definitely not prepared for the bill! The service wasnt terrible by any means, but when you go to a fine dining place, theres a certain level of service that is expected. Our server wasnt rude, but barely smiled and seemed almost annoyed we were there. When asked for suggestions for drinks for my kids other than basic soda, she had nothing to offer bc the only menu option they had was out. As a server she should have been able to offer at least 1 thing. Didn't clear empty plates or glasses until we pushed them to the side of the table..had 2 or 3 empty glasses by this time. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and ambiance, the drinks were good, and the service was ok. Food was not worth it...id recommend a drink and a few of the apps but definitely not the wings and definitely dont recommend the prime rib especially when the smallest and cheapest cut is $30. They received a 1 star bc for the money you spend for the quality of food....its not worth it. Price per person: $40–50 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

Service was lacking was there 3 hours only was helped 3 times had to wait 45 minutes to get check. Fries were cold!
