Let me begin with the positive. The young woman who took my take-out order was pleasant, professional and composed. I'm sure you're thinking, "Composed?" Well, her boss, who I assume is the owner, openly chastised her in the middle of the crowded restaurant, and she never showed how embarrassed or p*ssed off, she must have been.
Apparently, she had taken a phone order for steak tips, and failed to get the caller's name. The caller did not show up to pick up the order, and the owner somehow felt that her writing down the callers name, would have changed this. She could have had the name, phone number, address and social security number, and it would not have made a bit of difference. He went on to yell at her and complain about his being out $40 because the caller didn't show. Again, how was this her fault?
Anywho...I listened to him yell at her the entire 30-minutes I waited for my breakfast (yes, 30-minutes), which included pre-cooked sausage (and not the kind the restaurant cooks partially, then finishes cooking upon receiving an order. I am referring to the ones that come from the grocery store's freezer section, out of a box, already fully-cooked, and you pop in the microwave for however long those things take to heat). I also listened to him b*tch at the cooks for whatever reason, and other wait staff because someone forgot to put the gasket in one of the syrup containers.
I, as a customer, should not have been privy to any of his discussions with his staff. As a matter of fact, if he had an issue, he should have spoken to each of them in private, out of earshot of his other staff members, and especially his customers. Raised voice, arms waving...absolutely inappropriate. All of the patrons eating in were elderly regulars, who were clearly accustomed to his outbursts, because no one else was giving him death-stares or even seemed to flinch at his bad behavior.
Fortunately, the food was sub-par and unimpressive, so I won't ever be tempted to go back and give that a**hole owner any more of my money.
