If you want to escape the touristy spots in Athens and experience something truly special, Raw Bata is an absolute gem hidden in a quiet neighborhood. From the moment you walk in, you just feel it the atmosphere is effortlessly cool, somewhere between sexy and trendy, with perfectly chosen music playing softly in the background, adding the ideal touch to the whole experience. What makes this place even more special to me is that it’s owned by Chronis, a relevantly young and incredibly talented chef whom I had the chance to meet many many years ago while he was still struggling to build his career. Seeing what he has created today honestly makes me so happy and proud, as his passion for combining Greek and Asian cuisine is on another level. I’ve been there three times already and have practically tried the entire seasonal menu. I can honestly say I’m obsessed with at least five of his dishes. The flavors, the balance, the creativity the umami literally explodes in your mouth! Some of his ingredient combinations completely blow your mind in the best possible way. And beyond the food, the staff deserves huge praise, as every Single member of the staffis genuinely warm, friendly and willing to make sure you have the best possible experience. You can feel the care behind every detail. All in all,Raw Bata is 100% worth the money and trust me, I’m a serious food addict. I’ve eaten almost everywhere, from humble taverns to some of the most expensive restaurants in Greece and around the world (also a travel addict) and this little place has truly won my heart and my stomach One thing I especially admire is seeing Chronis himself always present, checking every plate before it reaches the table, making sure every detail is perfect. That level of dedication and generosity says everything about the person behind the restaurant. Bravo to the whole team. You can truly feel the hard work, passion and love behind this place. Each plate is composed with a precision that never veers into fussiness, marrying unexpected flavors and ingredients in ways that feel as natural as they are thrilling. The dining room is modest, the kind of space you might miss if you weren’t looking for it, but the staff carries themselves as though every dish they set down is the most important of the evening. Their attentiveness is neither scripted nor obtrusive; it is the quiet, steady presence that allows the food to shine. RawBata is not simply a neighborhood gem.
