First time coming here and we got the boom bap slap which was a chicken cutlet with bacon, french fries, lettuce, and tomato, topped with an aïoli sauce We also got the Godfather, which was pepperoni, salami, capicola, and ham, topped with all the fixings This is definitely a retro babies nostalgia. There are vinyls on the wall. Pictures of passed on artist and hip-hop memorabilia on the wall. Definitely one of those cool spots that you have to go in. Just to check out at least once. They also have a few things for sale, like key chains, accessories, and other things They don’t have beer on tap yet, but they said they were working on it Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Retro Subs is a local gem!! The ambience and vibes are fun, super cool, and comforting. I loved seeing all the throw backs and looking at the records on the wall. The staff were super friendly and helpful with ordering as this was my first time here. I got the Fight Club and added lettuce, tomato and sweet pickles. It was incredible! Tender juicy chicken, crispy lettuce, delicious sauce, soft lightly toasted bread. My dad got the Steak and Cheese which was also excellent (and it is a staff favorite!). The steak had a great flavor and nice crispy bits, cheese was nice and melt-y, and the same delicious bread. The portion size is very generous. We both got the 6-inch; I definitely could have saved half for lunch the following day but it was too good not to eat while it was hot. I also loved all the games they offered. We played Uno while waiting for our sandwiches. We even ran into a friend who was also visiting for the first time! Looking forward to many more visits with family and friends. Highly recommend!! We finally checked out Retro Subs in New Britain and it absolutely lived up to the hype. First off, the atmosphere is awesome. There’s a ton of personality, history, and just a really fun vibe the moment you walk in. It’s one of those places that’s worth going to just for the experience alone, and then the food takes it to another level. The service was great too. Friendly, welcoming, and you can tell they care about what they’re putting out. We ordered the Players Club and the Godfather. Both were incredible. If I had to pick, the Godfather might edge it out as our favorite, but honestly the Players Club was right there with it. Nothing about it felt like a second option. Everything was dialed in. The bread, the meats, the toppings, the sauces (I asked for extra hot sauce and it was perfect) — everything worked together exactly how you want a sub to hit. Portion sizes were no joke either. Very generous, especially for the price. Neither of us could finish our subs. The pictures I posted are actually after we already ate half because we couldn’t wait to dig in. It’s also just a unique take on subs. You can tell they’re doing their own thing here, and it works. We’ll definitely be back. Also, if you’re on the fence, check out Daym Drops’ YouTube review on this spot. He keeps it real, and he pretty much nailed it. Highly recommend.
