Background: I've been to dozens of Thai restaurants around Ohio, in NYC, and other places and eaten at least 100 meals inside and take out. Rice Paper was my favorite in Fairlawn, where I live.
Rice Paper's Pad Thai has gone downhill in the last year or so. Tonight was the worst. There was a solid sticky lump of noodles that had little flavor. In it, there were three shrimp and three small morsels of chicken. I threw most of the noodles out.
I let Rice Paper know it was terrible and was told it was the same as usual. No, it was the same as the "new usual." I was also told if I don't like it, don't come back. I will follow that advice.
Competition begins two blocks away at Pad Thai restaurant. Downtown Akron has Cilantro, and a mile west is Taste of Bangkok. To the northeast is Lemongrass, and there are may more around the area and in neighboring towns.
My go-to Thai restaurant is now my no-go. I wasted money and it ruined my evening.
