I visited Ridgemont Country Club for my employer’s holiday party, and while the venue itself is beautiful — both outside and in — the overall experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The facility is absolutely top-notch. It has that classic, upscale charm you’d expect from a country club, and it made a great first impression. The staff were all very courteous and professional, though I did get the feeling that dinner service was a bit rushed, which put a slight damper on the atmosphere. Now onto the food — which, unfortunately, was not the high point of the evening. It was served buffet-style, and felt like it might have been catered rather than prepared in-house (though I can’t say for certain, so I’ll give the benefit of the doubt). The macaroni was bland and uninspired, the roast beef was overdone and dry, and the chicken was noticeably undercooked in some places — not a good combination. The roasted potatoes were decent, but my wife got one that was still partially raw. The saving grace of the meal came at dessert: an impressive variety of Italian pastries that were fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care — possibly brought in from an outside bakery. If I had to break it down, I’d give the facility and staff a solid 4 stars, but the food itself a 3. It’s a lovely venue with great potential — hopefully the kitchen or catering side can match the level of the service and setting next time around.
