we left very happy from our lunch, the service was top notch and we really enjoyed our food. i highly recommend the lobster pasta the prawn salad and the scallops. it's also a good chance to see the beautiful establishment of four seasons Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The Mediterranean riverside restaurant at Four Seasons Ubud was a major letdown. Even the setting feels misleading. While the restaurant is positioned around the idea of the river, the water itself sits several levels below, separated by pools and decking, so you never actually experience the river in any meaningful way while dining. What makes it even more puzzling is the design failure of the space itself. The layout is essentially a long, narrow slit, enclosed by full walls and weighed down by poorly placed seating. Rather than feeling open, atmospheric, or connected to the landscape, it feels constrained and awkward. In a property as architecturally compelling as this one, it is genuinely surprising that this was the concept chosen for a flagship dining experience. The disappointment extended from the architecture to the plate. It was not just a failure of execution, but a failure of imagination. The menu felt incredibly ordinary, with very little that seemed inspired, distinctive, or memorable. For the price point, the execution was simply not there. What arrived did not feel refined or remotely worthy of the bill. Even the dessert selection felt standard and like an afterthought. The atmosphere was perhaps the most frustrating part of the evening. The energy felt stiff and off, lacking any of the warmth or liveliness present in the hotel lobby. While the lobby felt vibrant and alive, the restaurant felt flat and soulless. The service also lacked genuine hospitality, coming across more like staff going through the motions than people creating a meaningful dining experience. Honestly, I regret wasting my time here. It did not feel like a Four Seasons fine dining establishment whatsoever. Compared with the atmosphere in the lobby, I would have been better off staying there. To find such a mediocre and ordinary experience within one of their premier Bali properties was a huge letdown.
