Many of my reviews are of fine food and wine venues, so I find it unusual that I am writing a review about a takeaway lunch place. But this is absolutely the best of its kind in Adelaide (and I would suggest would be fantastic in any city). If you are looking for great food, satisfying value for money, and fantastic service, you get all of these in abundance at Rolls ‘N Rice. I need to provide some navigation advice. Rolls ‘N Rice may be in a building with the official address of “6/118 King William St”, but this is the address of the multistorey building. Rolls ‘N Rice is a small ground level shop in that building that actually faces onto Pirie Street, 20 metres or so east of King William Street, near the corner of Pirie Street and Manufacturers Lane (which runs behind the building). Although I have known about this treasure of the lunchtime food scene for many years, the past couple of years have seen their reputation grow. Fresh Banh Mi made to request and their legendary salad bowls (cabbage salad with roast pork is AMAZING!) have become particular favourites. Rolls ‘N Rice became so popular, customers would queue from the shop, all the way down to King William Street – all happy knowing that the service was efficient, they would not have to wait long, and the food was simply worth it. Rolls ‘N Rice recently expanded the store, allowing more customers to be served quicker. There are still queues at the busiest times, but they are usually only a minute or two before you are served an on your way. The one aspect that makes Rolls ‘N Rice such a stand-out is the cheerful service. Always with a smile, they make your lunch break special. Wonderful people. Price per person: $1–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Roll, Vietnamese Roll, Spring Roll, Tofu & Mushroom, Cold Rolls Vegetarian options: Tofu Cabbage Salad Bowl Tofu & Mushroom Cabbage Salad Bowl Tofu Banh Mi Vegetarian Spring Rolls

Worst bahn mi roll ever. Tastes like crap and they can't even do something simple like cut in half. Save your money and go to Pitt St Cafe Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Hi Fred, Thanks for sharing your opinion! What may be simple to you and others, is not simple for us as a business. Sorry your expectations weren’t met, we’re happy you have found an alternative place. Our Banh Mi is one of our best sellers so it’s difficult for us to understand why you consider it the worst! If you’re willing to share genuine constructive feedback for us to take on board, please don’t hesitate to reconsider your review. Thank you

ROLLS 'N RICE is absolutely fantastic. I work just around the corner and have been coming here regularly since I stumbled upon it. I've now tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed; it's all delicious. - The portion sizes are generous (I'm not a small person). - The prices are very reasonable. - The flavours are outstanding. - The food is fresh. - The menu contains a good variety. There is usually a large line out the front, and rightly so, though the service is still quick. The two people who work there are lovely and friendly. I've tried a lot of different places in the CBD for lunch, and would not recommend anywhere higher than this. I hope the owners and staff keep doing what they are doing! Thank you for the great food.
