I happened to be on Niagara Street in Buffalo around 2pm when I became unbearably hungry. I used the map app on my phone to see what was nearby and RU"s popped up less than a mile from where I was sitting. I pulled up their web site and although I had never had a pierogi before, their description made me want to try one. So when I went on, right off the bat I noticed how bright and sparkling clean everything looked and whatever they were cooking smelled delicious. I hate to say it though, the food really sucks. (I've been there 4 times since I wrote the above and each time it was worse than before! Maybe that's why their beer menu is over kill bcuz you gotta be drunk to stomach the food!)

Wowzers! Ru's Pierogi is THE place to have a delicious dinner in Buffalo. My dining partner ordered sautéed Banana Pepper Pierogi with Braised Short Ribs, served on top of Grilled Eggplant. He also got the Hamburg Just Saying IPA. He spoke favorably of the IPA. The dinner, however, stole the show and he wolfed it down. It was delicious. I tried both the short ribs and the banana pepper pierogis and the pierogis especially were so amazing I cannot rave enough. You MUST try their banana pepper pierogis. I ordered the sautéed Potato Ricotta Pierogi with Fried Chicken, Asparagus and topped with a Mushroom Gravy. Also delicious, although I slightly favored my partner's banana pepper pierogis. I also tried the McKenzie's Black Cherry hard Cider and that was five stars. Everything was five stars. If you haven't tried Ru's yet it is a must-visit in Buffalo!
