I rolled into this Sonic on 1st Street while driving through Hiawatha and it was the perfect pit stop. It is a classic drive-in setup where you just pull into a stall, which is great because I did not even have to worry about walking inside or messing up an order at a counter. The speaker system worked fine and the carhop who brought out my food was super quick and friendly. I ended up ordering a double cheeseburger, some tater tots, and a big cherry limeade to wash it down. The burger was surprisingly fresh and juicy with plenty of pickles, though I accidentally squeezed it a bit too hard and a blob of mustard landed right on my steering wheel like a total klutz. The tots were perfectly crispy and hot, and the drink had that perfect pebble ice that just hits the spot on a long drive. It is exactly what you want when you need fast, comforting food on the go, and I will definitely pull back in next time I am in the area. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section Vegetarian options: You can definitely piece together a meal, but since it is a fast-food burger joint, your options are mostly going to be sides. They also do a grilled cheese sandwich which is simple but totally hits the spot if you do not eat meat. Dietary restrictions: It is a bit of a challenge for strict allergies. They have a detailed allergen guide online, but cross-contamination is common since almost all the sides share the same fryers. If you are avoiding gluten, you can request a burger without the bun or grab a basic side salad, but your safest bet is sticking to their massive list of customizable drinks and slushes.

One lady with a mic on her face that obviously takes orders decided it was a better use of her time to hang through a customer's window and flirt rather than take orders or do the job she is being paid for, and to think people complain about minimum wage.

Great service and food in Hiawatha, Kansas. Tried to stop on our way through Auburn, Nebraska at a Sonic as we were traveling through on vacation. The girl trying to take our order there was very argumentative and rude. We left without getting anything. We decided to wait until we were closer to home and eat in a friendly location. Shout out to Hiawatha, KS Sonic Drive-In! Auburn missed out on a big tip. Service: Take out Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20
