Safeway Store 535. I have receipts documenting every part of this transaction. I returned a container of peanuts because the taste was unacceptable. I paid $5.79, yet the refund issued to me was only $5.49. That is not a mistake — it is a short refund. I didn’t catch it until I reviewed the receipt days later, because I did not expect a store to shave money off a simple return. The employee who processed the refund was Kindsay. He appeared to be a manager, and he already seemed bothered by the return before the transaction even began. The only exchange between us was me asking if he could help me with a return. Despite that, he proceeded to issue a refund that was lower than the amount I paid, and he did so in a way that made it clear he knew exactly what he was doing. This is unacceptable, and I am seriously considering reporting this incident to Consumer Affairs.
