My man and I ate at Sage over the weekend while visiting the mountains. We were really excited to try this place as we are all about organic and farm to table places. But sadly, we were not as impressed as we had hoped to be. First, the building itself is cute - although the sign out front could be more noticeable. Second, we sat in the first floor area after being told the upstairs section might be a little cold. Well, I'd hate to know what temp it was upstairs as it was about -10 at our table on the first floor. They really need to put a commercial front door curtain over the entrance to keep the cold out when people enter and exit. And third, our food was so-so and over-priced. I ordered the pasta primavera and added chicken. My man ordered a bowl of soup, burger, and glass of wine. The bill came to $50! My pasta was okay (although I would prefer fresh parmesan cheese instead of the stuff from a shaker) and the portion was pretty small (more like an app size). I was still hungry after I finished it. My man's soup bowl was a decent size tho. I really want to give this place two stars, but since I believe in their mission and feel they might be off to slow start, I have given three instead. Perhaps with some more time and fine tuning under their belt, they will provide an overall better quality dining experience that makes their prices worth their meals (or lower them). I'm in their corner and rooting for them!
A welcome addition to the Bethlehem restaurant scene. We stopped in after date night at the Colonial (2 for one, 5:30 show) chilled by Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance in a Most Wanted Man. Though Sage has been open on Wednesday for a few weeks, we were the only ones there. But we had a good meal--excellent chicken curry soup; bison burger, and the chicken special. Well-prepared and the family who runs it is delightful. I urge everyone to give it a try.
