The decor was not great... everything looks old and outdated. The fire alarm pull station had a broken cover with tape to hold it in place... there were no soy sauce trays and the napkins they gave us were paper towel and not napkins. Also the bathroom was purposely locked so my friend and I had to use their neighbors bathroom which is connected to her restaurant through the basement. I guess they're not doing so well if they have to be so cheap? I wonder if her neighbor, carafted bean cafe, knows that her clients are using their bathroom and driving up their hydro bill and using their toilet paper? Not nice to be that cheap. Also it's against restaurant regulations to not have a public bathroom for your patrons. Also the sushi was cheap... not in a good way. We got the lunch special for $10... the salmon special and the orange dragon roll... but still left hungry since we were served baby portion sizes. I went to a Chinese restaurant later and got a full meal for $7 and felt full. Quite embarrassing for a japanese restaurant that is beyond embarrassingly cheap to its patrons... if your decor is not great, at least please us with your food and please leave your bathroom open to us patrons that eat there.

Came here with my cousins after eating at an izakaya because we weren't full yet and still craving sushi - it hit the spot! Would definitely recommend. This place has been here FOREVER and it should rightfully stay. It's small, nothing fancy, but the chef makes decent sushi. We shared one of the maki/sashimi platters and it was perfect because there were four of each item! One for each of us. There was a little more rice on each roll than I would've wanted but they still tasted good. Wish they had put less spicy mayo on top, they were pretty liberal with it. The three types of sashimi were butterfish, red tuna, and salmon. I'm not the biggest fan of the first two, so my opinion might be biased but the butterfish felt kind of rubbery and the tuna tasted a little bit like the freezer - not frozen, but like it had freezer burn. The salmon was great! This place was pretty inexpensive for sushi in downtown Toronto.

Salmon Lovers is a small but quaint Japanese restaurant.  It only seats about 20 people but I went for an early dinner, so there was only one other table being used.  What I found strange was that they used disposable chop sticks and coffee mugs for tea.  It wasn't bad, just unusual. I ordered the salmon sushi combo and I really enjoyed it.  The salmon was fresh, the rice had a nice consistency, and the salmon-to-rice ratio on the sushi was amazing! I also ordered chicken fried udon to share, which was also good.  The big chunks of chicken were surprisingly juicy. Overall, I enjoyed Salmon Lovers.  The food was quite good but didn't blow me away.  I would also be worried about going back during prime dinner time since the restaurant is so small.
