Great tacos and good prices, and speedy service. I love they have a variety of salsa to pick from, and they are local entrepreneurs. It would be a good idea to get in there and try them out, you won't be disappointed.

To give you a little background, my wife and I are foodies and every time we hear about a new restaurant or a new meat shop opening, we get that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. We live in Salem but we have been visiting new restaurants from Eugene to Portland and everything in between for a few years now. Salsa Rica opened its doors about a couple of weeks ago and like the owner told us, it was a very silent opening and I have to agree. We just happened to be coming out of Bi-Mart and I told my wife "look it is open!" so of course.. we had to give it a shot. Salsa Rica is located in a shopping center which is shared by Goodwill, a gym, karate place and other establishments. We were greeted by Elisa, a wonderful lady with a great smile. The seating is cafeteria style, nothing fancy but comfortable. Their menu is compiled of all the classics such as burritos, tacos, carne asada, pescado frito etc. One dish in particular caught our eye, Chicken con mole!! a classic from the Mexican cuisine and not very easy to make. I ordered a burrito de chile verde ( pork in green sauce). Chile verde is my favorite dish and it is not easy to make because it is easy to over cook the pork. This is how I rate most of the mexican restaurants we visit, I order chile verde :-). we were served chips and salsa, it was very fresh and tasty. While waiting for our order, we noticed a gentleman wearing boots and a cowboy hat serving food and we thought... that is the owner! Like many owners who have a passion for food and love people, Juan is no different. He told us that the cook is from Puebla Mexico, which happens to be the same city my father is from, and that everything is made from scratch, we have to agree. My chile verde burrito was amazing, the pork was juicy and tender, not to mentioned it was huge!!, and the salsa verde was tangy and delicious. The chicken with mole was amazing! Mole poblano must have the right amount of chocolate and nuts in order to be good. This mole was right on and the spanish rice was moist and very well seasoned. To give you an idea, my wife and I cleaned the plate by rolling up a tortilla and using it to get the very last of the mole. The last thing that made us love the place even more was that we were served sopapillas with whipped cream and coffee!! It was a great way to finish a great meal. Thank you Juan and Elisa for making our first visit a reason to comeback!
