Samut is a great little spot for Cambodian food in Melbourne CBD, especially if you’re looking for something affordable without having to spend a lot on a meal. The ordering process is nice and easy too. You just scan the QR code at the table, choose what you want and place the order, so there’s no need to line up at the counter. I went with the fried pork belly entree and a side of rice, and the whole meal came to under $20. The pork belly was crispy on the outside while still being nice and tender, and it went really well with the rice. It was a pretty simple order, but it was filling and had plenty of flavour. I also like that there are plenty of Cambodian dishes on the menu that you don't see everywhere, so there’s a good reason to come back and try something different next time. For the location and price, I thought it was great value. It’s the kind of place where you can get a proper meal without spending $30 or $40, which is always a bonus in the CBD. Hygiene urgently needs review. The stove used on our table was filthy. Seems to not be cleaned properly after use. Staff needs training as eg plates were placed on the edge of the table, and hotpot was served with just meat, had to ask where are the vegetables. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–40 Food: 2 Service: 2
