One of the worst experiences I've ever had dining out in my 60 years! We boated up from Watkins Glen on a Monday night looking for a lovely evening of lake time and good food and atmosphere. It is a lovely atmosphere at Sapalta but the service was the worst. There were four of us and we ordered our drinks and food right away. We waited about 20 minutes for our drinks. That's fine. Other foursomes came and were seated after us. We waited another 20 minutes for our second round of drinks. The other foursomes received their food, their checks and left. We waited an hour and a half for our food. No explanation for lack of food, we ran out of water, we went to the bar for our own drinks (at this point we were quite tipsy because NO FOOD!) I asked the waitress where our food was - no explanation. At this point, I asked to speak to the dining room manager. I asked to speak to her 6 times from different people passing out table. The dining room manager passed our table 6 times and didn't stop to say anything to us. After I accosted her in the doorway she said she would look into why our food hadn't come. Apparently it was a wi-fi issue but, again, no one cared or came to our table to tell us our food was going to be late. We finally got our food. My crabcakes were stone cold. I was over it at this point as were my companions so my friend paid the large bill (which I was against) and we left. Too bad they ruined this lovely place to get to by boat for dinner with a terrible experience. We will not be back...they don't care about their local people's experience...and we will be telling others don't go there as well. Their GM will be getting a call from us today. Totally unacceptable... Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $70–80 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4

This is positively the worst dinner I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. The food was inedible. The chicken special was tasteless and overcooked. My wife’s salmon was oily and texture was indescribable. We ordered 1 cocktail and a glass of champagne. The champagne was flat, and the old fashioned was terrible. The atmosphere is lovely. The outdoor seating is welcoming and very attractive. It’s completely overshadowed by the dead eyed wait staff. I saw more care and interest from the overcooked chicken I hid under my napkin. When the server took away two completely unfinished meals, there wasn’t a question as to why we did not eat our entrees. Had high hopes, and this place falls dead flat. Price per person: $60–70 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

Nice atmosphere, meager portions, very high price for what you get. Probably will not ever go back.
