I am not sure if they changed the recipe or what. Me and my husband both had immediate allergic reactions after eating the glazed donuts Saturday. I am not allergic to peanuts so I am not sure what was in or on the donuts. I called and they were very empathetic and I appreciate that. I hate I can no longer be a customer. I’ve tried quite a few donut spots, including Revolution Donuts and the Salty donut shop and based on my experience, Sarah Donuts doesn’t quite compare. The texture of the donuts at Sarah Donuts is very airy—almost too light. When you bite into them, it feels like there’s barely anything there, similar to a croissant. While that might appeal to some people, I personally prefer a bit more substance. In comparison, I find the donuts at Revolution Donuts much more satisfying in both texture and flavor. Flavor-wise, many of Sarah Donuts’ options lean heavily toward a sour-sweet profile. That might work for more adventurous taste buds, but for me—and especially for kids—it can be a bit overwhelming. I tried the strawberry glaze, which was good (not amazing, but enjoyable). However, the mango donut was difficult to finish because the flavor was extremely sour and overly sweet at the same time. On a positive note, they do have a rewards system where you can earn points using your phone number, which is a nice perk. I also appreciated the small gesture of receiving a couple of extra classic donuts—those were simple and actually pretty good. Still, even those didn’t stand out compared to something like Krispy Kreme. Another area that could use improvement is presentation. Some of the donuts looked a bit messy—the icing was uneven, toppings were falling off, and overall it didn’t have that clean, polished look you’d expect. A positive : Their donuts are affordable. I purchased 3 at $7. Overall, Sarah Donuts might be a decent option for a kids’ party or if you’re looking for a variety of unique flavors, but it wouldn’t be my top choice. So I was craving a blueberry cake donut on Saturday. It was after 3pm, so most fresh bakeries/donut shops nearby were closed. Not @SarahDonuts!! Greeted pleasantly upon entry. And not only did they have my exact craved item, it was so delectable. Moist and fresh. I will be returning!! Also got mint chocolate cake, red velvet cake, and chocolate cake donuts. Mint was delicious. Thank you for the glazed for my 1st visit! Hit the spot on my way to the car . Donuts still good/soft/moist the next day.
