The reason we visited was because of high rating on Google reviews, but there is no way these ratings are legitimate. There must be some form of review gate keeping or manipulation. We visited many other Almaty asian restaurants like Masisso, Tanuki, RAW and Sumo San, and those places rate lower than Satori but they are in a whole different league in terms of food quality. First of all we came and the place was completely empty, not a good sign but it was a Tuesday and later at night so alright. Photo’s of the food on the menu did not match with what we were served but maybe they would make up in taste. Also a few too many items on the menu were not available. We tried 8+ dishes so we really gave it a chance but simply none of them impressed us, they were just very very low to mid. It just felt like this restaurant has been around for decades but failed to maintain quality through the years and is stuck in same old routines from the past and doesn’t perform them as well as before anymore. Priorities are not right too, small example, on the table next to the pepper and salt are literally 30 packs of chopsticks, but not 1 bottle of soy sauce. You serve 10+ different sushi dishes in this place, will customers need 30 chopsticks or refills on their soy sauce? These are restaurant basics and they are just so poorly executed. This place needs a update on the menu, make it simpler more contemporary and make the kitchen focus on those few dishes to prepare them flawlessly.
