The food was decent but inconsistent day to day. They also often ran out of menu items early in the day, which was quite surprising given that the restaurant was never full. These things happen and are excusable, but our main issue was with the service. On our first day dining here for breakfast, we had to ask a bartender how the breakfast service works, since there was no clear signage for hotel patrons. A second female bartender advised us to ask the hotel’s front desk, and as we were walking away, we overheard the original bartender telling her that she was nicer than he would have been. At this point, we were wondering in what manner of way we had offended said bartender and if he had possibly had a rough shift. After getting redirected by the front desk back to the restaurant with instructions to wait to be seated, we were ignored for a few minutes until some awkward eye contact prompted the server to seat us. Yet another bartender comes by around 10 minutes later to take our orders. Tone was terse and brief, and we needed to wave him down every time we needed service (because he neglected to ask us for various food and drink preferences). We didn’t think much of it until we overheard how much better and thoughtful he served other customers of Caucasian descent, and then it clicked. Day after day, we were served by other waiters and waitresses and it seemed although their food was inconsistent, their subpar service towards us was not. I will end this review by remarking that there was one waiter who provided exceptional service, and was proactive and thoughtful, and perhaps less prejudiced than his other coworkers. Were it not for its convenience and complimentary breakfast vouchers, we most likely would have dined elsewhere. Feeling unwelcome doesn’t help one’s appetite much. We had a phenomenal dinner at Saverina. The carpaccio appetizer was fantastic, the Caesar salad was perfectly seasoned and dressed, and the branzino was superb. The food was secondary to the service, though. Eric was an absolute delight: witty, charming, and attentive with impeccable timing. Saverina will be our new go-to for an intimate date night.
