Overall very disappointing. They are relying on their captive audience, location (inside the nursery), and nice atmosphere It really has a nice indoor green house, kid-friendly feel. And great staff. But the food and coffee is very much “meh”. When paying these prices for “meh” it’s very disappointing. Speaking of prices, it was over $70 for two people: two entrees, two 16 oz lattes, one pastry item. The breakfast sandwich looked like an incredible deal when it came due to the unexpected delicious looking (and tasting) crispy breakfast potatoes. But for some strange reason they paired a ho hum, dry and overly sweet biscuit with a savory egg/cheese/bacon combo breakfast sammy. And the eggs tasted premade, warmed up, with a rubbery texture (though our dog thought they were yummy). The French Toast and berry jam was underwhelming looking when it arrived. Visually it looked like a very poor deal in comparison to the first impressions of the biscuit breakfast sandwich. If the sammy looked like a good deal at $18, the French Toast looked like it should have cost just $11-12. Although the jam was very nice tasting, the pre-made tasting French Toast was smothered with too much jam. And there was a tiny amount of whip cream on the side. Nothing else on the plate. An underwhelming and overpriced meal for sure. The most disappointing part of the meal were the lattes. In a city with great coffee everywhere, there is no reason to serve, let alone buy, this coffee. We hoped that adding vanilla syrup, and then more vanilla syrup, would make it somewhat palatable, but alas that wasn’t the case. Let me summarize by saying you should visit the cafe for the vibe, but enjoy a breakfast a short walk away at the Blue Ridge Cafe instead. I tried to order a BLT sandwich on sourdough bread, as I have done in the past, and was told that this could not be done because they had no way of pricing the sandwich. Really! Most of their sandwiches are priced at $18. I would be willing to pay this amount for my BLT sandwich, but the staff behind the counter did not give me this option. Swanson's should be more flexible in meeting customer requests. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labelled vegetarian dishes
