We booked for 6 people to celebrate a birthday on Sunday evening. The restaurant was busy when we arrived. We chose one of the banquets. There is a range of appetisers including ribs, prawn toast, seaweed, spring rolls and satay chicken. The next course is duck with pancakes. The main course was a selection of beef, chicken,pork and prawn dishes with rice. There was plenty of food, tasty and served hot. We took the extra main courses away with us, staff happily boxed it up. The decor is pretty with black wood and lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Lots of round tables, for bigger parties and tables for two for a quieter meal. Staff are good, one waiter takes the drinks order, while others are serving. Efficient and friendly. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

One of the best dining experiences I have had in Chester. Must visit if you love Chinese cuisine. Very authentic and tasty. I highly recommend it to anyone who visits Chester. I have found my favourite chinese spot. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A mixture of the West and East - Shanghai Restaurant is operated from a 200+ years old building in the edge of Chester old town. I was attracted by the building in the first place and obviously, this is a place for the locals for some special celebrations. Prices are on the high side and portion is not aimed for big stomach. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20
