Our absolute favorite place to eat! I have been going here for over two decades and despite changes due to Covid the staff is/has always been so pleasant and a joy to interact with, the ambiance is like being home, their prices and portions are truly the best around, and the food is BEYOND delicious!! Perfect if you love comfort food or miss homecooked meals. Absolutely LOVE this gem of a place!!

Wow! What a hidden gem located, well it is pretty "country", in the heart of Shapleigh, Maine. While visiting my daughter this past weekend she recommended that we get takeout from the Shapleigh Corner Store & Restaurant. We called and the gentlemen on the other end of the phone was very polite and took our oder. He mentioned that it would take about 30 minutes for our food to be ready. I found the restaurant, which is located on Route 11, pretty easily. It really looks like a house. Just before I entered I noticed an outdoor eating are with a fantastic looking brick fireplace. I noted that given a warmer day, this would be a rather nice place to sit and eat a meal. The restaurant itself is a bit small with only about 15 tables, but on this afternoon if was full. The small TV in the corner was entertaining the crowd with a rerun of the Lawrence Welk Show. I found this interested and then I noticed that most of the patrons were "good old country folk and I assumed had been coming here for a long time. I went to the bar and was greeted by the waitress who asked for my name and then proceeded to go into the kitchen to pick up my order, which was ready. She directed me to the register and recorded the amounts. I noticed just inside the door many fresh home baked goodies. I chose a peanut butter cup brownie, for my wife. It was fantastic and a bargain at $2.25. I ordered a cheese burger plate which came with a boat load of onion rings and steak fries. The burger itself was huge, cooked just the way I liked it and had pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. My daughter ordered a chicken finger platter, which also came with onion rings and steak fries. We were a bit disappointed that we didn't get our side of coleslaw, only because we were expecting great things based on what we had already received. Anyway, this place is so special, I didn't even lower my 5 star rating. My wife ordered a white pizza with two toppings, broccoli and spinach. Her only complaint was that it had to much broccoli. Come on really too much! All of our meals were hearty and full of flavor. So, if you are ever in the Shapleigh area the Shapleigh Corner Store and Restaurant is a must place to visit. Remember bring your appetite.
