Came for the Brunch. The Steak and Eggs were excellent. Would recommend this place.

I stopped for lunch at Sheridan’s Saturday 7/18/15. I had asked to be seated in my daughter’s (who was a server there) section. After years of serving her, I thought she could serve me that day. The hostess told me not to worry; anywhere I sat they would have Taylor be my server. The hostess even brought me the coffee I had requested. Taylor asked the hostess and a waitress if she could take a break and eat with me. They said yes. The waitress giving her permission came over and reminded Taylor to take care of her table. I told the other waitress if this was going to get Taylor in trouble I didn’t want her to sit with me. She assured me it was ok for Taylor to take a break. Taylor took care of her table, took food to her table, checked on her table a few times and only sat with me to go through her tickets. Taylor also told the waitress, I didn’t want Taylor to get in trouble and was assured it was ok. After I had ordered, the owner came to my table, took Taylor’s apron and other items and said how unprofessional this was and it wasn’t bring Mom to work day and asked if I took my daughter to work with me (actually, I did, many times. Over 14 years she accompanied me to work when I didn’t have someone to care for her due to her dad’s and my schedule as well as on weekends when I unexpectedly got called in and didn’t have anyone to care for her). I didn’t hear all of what she was saying to me as she was walking away from me and still talking. I followed her past the bar and asked what the problem was and she told me to sit down or she would call the police. I again asked what the problem was as I was confused as to her irrational actions, and she actually told someone to call the police (I have never had the police called on me. I come from a long line of police officers in my family). I sat down at my table and proceeded to hear my daughter get yelled at by the owner in front of the wait staff and customers (4 groomsmen sitting next to me, and the woman coming down the stairs. Not sure if the people in the other room heard all of it). The police did not come. My daughter stood up for me and told the owner not to speak to me like that and proceeded to cease her employment. Taylor was told, in the employee handbook there was something about serving or eating with family. Not sure what it was as Taylor didn’t know there was a handbook and didn’t sign off on getting one. A suggestion from someone who has spent many years in management, the proper way to deal with this situation is to pull the employee aside, away from everyone, remind her of what was in the handbook, ask her to resume work, then introduce herself to the employee’s Mother and explain why Taylor couldn’t be my server. I would then do the same with the hostess, reminding her of what was in the handbook. (Side note, Sheridan’s might want to let the hostess in on that part of the handbook if it is a rule, since she was the one that made sure Taylor was going to be my server and said Taylor could take a break. They might want to let the waitresses know it as well). A different waitress came to the table to get Taylor’s book and apologized to me. I asked her to cancel our orders. Both the waitress that came over to the table to make sure Taylor had her tables covered and hostess denied saying Taylor could take a break. If she wasn’t allowed one, she would not have taken one The way the owner yelled at Taylor (as I could hear it at my table next to the east window in the south room and she was at the wait station next to the kitchen), was uncalled for and unprofessional. What I thought would be a nice surprise for my daughter, and a lunch for myself, turned into a nightmare and the end of Taylor working at Sheridan’s. Unfortunately, I cannot comment if the food was good or not.

Mother's Day Celebrations. I have dined at Sheridan's more times then i can count! I was so happy to see how busy it was on Mother's day. Let me tell you, they were packed to the rafters! Working in the service industry myself i know the importance of making reservations in a timely manner. Reading a few of these other reviews makes me disappointed in people. It is very apparent they have never worked in a restaurant on a busy day like, Mother's day or Easter.....or worked in a restaurant period. I love that the chef at Sheridan's puts out a special menu for days like this. I know that is hard work! Everything was FANTASTIC! We started our meal with Lazy Summer Mimosas. If i recall correctly they were a bubbly blood orange concoction. I will certainly be trying to recreate it for my own lazy summer days. We then has they're amazing cinnamon toast sticks,they were not actually on the menu but they bent the rules for us.....because they are friendly and professional! I had a open faced breakfast pita. FYI i really hope it make it to the brunch menu someday soon. Mom had a summery salmon dish and opted for a broccoli salad. Shortly after that i may have slipped in to a food coma! I will be a forever guest for as long as they're doors are open! I cant wait for patio season!
