Puedes sentarte fuera o dentro.

Shin Taiwanese Eatery is, without exaggeration, one of the most unexpectedly outstanding restaurants I’ve experienced — calling it exceptional would still be an understatement. In fact, this was a reservation I made before even arriving in Vienna. Living in Malta — and even in nearby Italy — Chinese restaurants are easy to find, but authentic Taiwanese cuisine is almost nonexistent. Unlike many mainland-style Chinese restaurants that rely heavily on additives and aggressive seasoning, Taiwanese cuisine is known for its balance, discipline, and respect for both flavor and health. That alone made this restaurant worth booking in advance. Now, the ironic part: We arrived with almost no appetite at all. Earlier that day, we had a Korean BBQ buffet, and by the time our reservation came around, my entire family had completely lost interest in food. We even considered canceling. But we decided to go anyway — just for drinks and maybe a dessert. That decision changed everything. After just two drinks and one dessert, the food here was so astonishing that we simply could not stop ordering. Here’s what we had: 1. Mango Matcha (Drink, €6.9) Layered with mango purée at the bottom, cream in the middle, and matcha on top. Each layer is delicious on its own — but when mixed together, it becomes something remarkably harmonious. Achieving this level of balance in a drink is rare, and it reflects a kind of precision often seen only in Taiwanese or Japanese cuisine. 2. “Mama Lemon Soda” (Drink, €5.8) I didn’t personally try it, but both my wife and my child loved it. 3. Mango Sticky Rice (Dessert, €7.9) Another highlight. The sweetness of mango, the fragrance of sticky rice, and what felt like a subtle hint of red bean — all combined into something incredibly refined. This is absolutely a must-order. 4. Duck Noodle Soup (Main, €15.5) After the dessert, my son suddenly felt hungry — so we ordered one main dish. The duck is fried before serving, giving it crispy skin and tender meat. The soup is rich with duck bone flavor, accompanied by vegetables, scallion oil, and crispy shallots. Even just reading that combination, you can imagine how satisfying it is. 5. Fried Ice Cream (Dessert, €7.5) A visually striking, almost theatrical dessert. The staff brings out a deep-fried ice cream ball, sets it in a cup, and ignites it with fire. The flame crisps the outer layer further while the inside remains cold and creamy. It’s both a performance and a flavor experience. 6. Fried Banana (Dessert, €5.9) Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Interestingly, once heated, the banana develops a sweetness reminiscent of mango. Finished with a drizzle of sauce, it’s another surprisingly impressive dessert. ⸻ We barely ordered any “proper” main dishes — yet we left completely satisfied. Every single item we tried was excellent. Not one dish fell short. This is the kind of place where even an unplanned, half-hearted visit turns into a memorable dining experience. If you are in Vienna — this is not just a recommendation. This is a place worth planning your visit around. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
