We waited ten mins without a reservation and had very good service, plenty of non deep fried options of seafood, meat and vegetables. Non-smoking, private booths, clean with traditional tables. There were many options for drinks, foods and regional cuisine. Everyone was very friendly and polite. Possibly the best izakaya I have been to in Japan!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Pumpkin, asparagus, corn, and cheese dishes. Also a salads section on the menu. Dietary restrictions: Those who are seafood/ fish intolerant have options. Yakitori, vegetarian and pizza etc.

Shogun is one of those neighborhood izakayas that quietly wins you over the longer you stay. I dropped by with no big expectations and left feeling like I had just been welcomed into a familiar local hangout. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, the kind of place where regulars chat easily with the staff and time seems to slow down after the first drink. The food is classic izakaya comfort done right. Nothing feels overcomplicated, but everything is satisfying, especially when paired with a cold beer or a glass of sake after a long day. Portions are generous enough to share, and it is easy to keep ordering “just one more dish” as the night goes on. What stood out most to me was the feeling of ease. The staff are friendly without being intrusive, and there is a genuine, down-to-earth hospitality that makes you want to linger. Shogun is not about trends or Instagram moments, it is about good food, good drinks, and the simple pleasure of spending an evening in a place that feels honest and local.
