We found this gem on our summer national park tour. We took on the duck and the pork chop. They were fantastic. The food was delicious. the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was okay. They sat us out back. The main restaurant is a bit small for the price they charge. Price per person: $50–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Amazing dining experience at this restaurant! I’m in South Dakota celebrating my birthday, and we decided to have dinner at Skogen. It exceeded all of my expectations! Not only was the food incredible, but the service was exceptional as well. Our waitress, Brit, was incredibly helpful and made sure we were having a great time. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation, and the hostess did everything she could to get our table ready as quickly as possible. At one point, one of the chefs even came to our table to share some interesting details about the dishes and the flavors, which made the experience even more special. I 100% recommend this restaurant and would absolutely come back! Price per person: $90–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We first dined at Skogen Kitchen last October while visiting Custer, and we’ve talked about that meal ever since — it easily surpassed anything we’ve had in our own city or even the nearby larger one. We finally returned last night with family, and it was just as incredible as we remembered! The steamed lobster buns were out of this world, the salmon was perfectly cooked, and the yuzu caviar on top was pure magic . My husband’s wagyu was outstanding, and our two family members both ordered the duck confit, which was exactly as our server described — tender, flavorful, and falling right off the bone. We had a new waitress who was in training (I wish I could remember her name!), and she did a fantastic job — friendly, attentive, and fully in line with the top-notch service we’ve come to expect from Skogen Kitchen. We can’t wait to return again — this place is truly something special!
